Dining in Ellensburg, WA
You know the feeling. Sometimes the mood just hits and you’re craving something delectable for dinner. But the last thing you want is head to the cafeteria or even prep a whole meal yourself. That’s why it’s great there are so many dining options close to University Park & Place, our off-campus apartments near CWU. Here are a few of our favorites.

Campus U-Tote-Em
This retro diner dates all the way back to 1947, though the current owners are relatively new to the scene. It’s staffed mostly by part-time students from the local high schools and college, serving up a simple menu that largely consists of burgers. Try out the Hawaiian burger, topped with pineapples, or the Dagwood, with double the meat and hot, melty cheese. If you want to go all out and really get nostalgic, order up a frosty malt to wash everything down.

Ellensburg Pasta
There are no surprises when it comes to the menu here. The name of the game is deciding which comforting, carb-forward entree to satisfy your craving. Whether you’re in the mood for chicken, beef, or seafood, there are plenty of options, all served atop a bed of fresh, chewy pasta, with a variety of sauces to choose from. And, for those with dietary restrictions, there is gluten-free pasta available.

Cornerstone Pie
The Steam Punk design of this place — which incorporates plenty of recycled materials and even local historical artifacts — gives it a decidedly hipster-esque aesthetic. But, while the decor awards the place some cool points, it’s the pizza everyone comes for. For something different, try the Carolina Pulled Pork, which includes spicy capicola, caramelized onions, and smoked cheddar. Or, for a fruity island vibe, go for the Big Island, smothered in barbecue sauce, bacon, chorizo, sun-dried cherries, and mango-pineapple salsa.

The Soup Bowl
Try not to confuse it with the major sports event with a slightly different name. Despite the name, you’ll actually find mostly sandwiches filling up the menu here. There are all the classic diner-style varieties — egg, chicken, and tuna salad; grilled cheese; and BLTs — plus more adventurous options, like chicken and peanut sauce with mandarin oranges on flatbread. Whichever sandwich you choose, go for the combo option and enjoy a steaming bowl of soup with it.
